Day 30 – Garage Organizers {31 Cheap & Easy DIY Organizers}

Spread the love

Think you have to spend a lot of money on costly organizing tools to get your house in order?  Nope!  Getting organized doesn’t have to be expensive!

Garage organizers really help keep your garage, well, organized.  But they can be very expensive!  You CAN organize your garage without spending a lot of money though.  Just be creative and find items you can use to keep like items together.

Here are some DIY Organizers for your garage.

  • I’ve already talked about repurposing furniture to help you organize (a few times!), but the garage is the perfect place to organize with old furniture.  Old dressers and old shelving units can help maximize vertical space and keep similar items grouped. Or, you can use old kitchen cabinets for amazing garage storage and organization. You can find great deals for old furniture online or visit a Habitat For Humanity Restore.

Hip and Humble Style

  • A lot of people store bins with seasonal items in their garage, which is a great idea since you only need those items once per year.  But, it’s important to clearly label what’s in your bins so you can find the right bins when you need them.  Here’s a great example of DIY labels that are large and clear.

I Heart Organizing

  • Shelves make a HUGE difference in how organized your garage is.  If you or a friend or family member is good with a few tools, you can build your own garage shelves for a fraction of the cost of buying them.  Plus, you can custom design them to fit your bins and belongings!  Check out this great tutorial for DIY garage shelves.

Infarrantly Creative

And just to end on a cheap and easy note, you can be as creative as you want to be when you choose organizers for your garage.  At my old house, I organized our garage using a variety of different items on the shelves. I’ve got cardboard boxes, dollar store bins and shoeboxes, a can from an old candle, and a golf ball basket. It was all stuff I repurposed so it didn’t cost me anything and it helped keep items organized all year round!

My favourite repurposed item was the old (and I mean very old) fridge drawers.  They fit perfectly and hold a lot of stuff!

So that goes to show you that garage organizers don’t have to be costly!
