Think you have to spend a lot of money on costly organizing tools to get your house in order?  Nope!  Getting organized doesn’t have to be expensive!

The series is wrapping up soon, but I’ve still got a lot of ideas I want to share with you!  I’ve already shared ideas for repurposing dressers and repurposing furniture to help you organize.  But I have a few more repurposing furniture ideas to share with you today.

  • If you have a small entry or a lack of storage in your entry area, you can turn a bookcase into a mini mudroom. I love all the functional and decorative ideas added to this shelf unit to make it a very practical piece for an entry!
A light green bookshelf reconfigured with top shelf and a vertical slat down the centre with a coat hook installed in each cubby. A large basket, one yellow and one orange are placed at the bottom of each section. A brushed nickel mesh file rack with three sections is attached to side.

Crafts a la Mode

  • If you need more storage space in a bathroom, add a bookshelf unit and you’ve instantly got lots of storage! If you don’t want it all open, you could hang a curtain in front of the shelves.
Tall, 6 shelf, dark cherry bookshelf tucked into the corner of a tiled bathroom. Beige fabric baskets are arranged on each shelf filled with toiletries.

  • If you need more shelves in a laundry room, you can add a shelf unit like the ones you get as part of a closet organizing system to give you lots of storage.
This laundry room maximizes a small space with front-loading machines, vertical shelving, and red accent walls. Stylish bins and artwork add elegance, while labeled storage and baskets provide function. A balance of utility and flair, the space is cleverly organized to make laundry efficient within a closet. blueistyle

  • If you’ve followed me for awhile, you may remember that I repurposed an old microwave stand to provide extra storage space in our kitchen.
Kitchen organizing tip. Re-purpose furniture for extra storage. Microwave cart with a drawer and bottom cupboard tucked into corner used to store colourful plastic dishes. White stackable bins a mauve cutlery caddy and other containers hold various kitchen tools. From overwhelmed to organized.

So take a look around your home and see if you have some furniture pieces that are being under-utilized.  Spruce them up a bit (if you like that sort of thing) and then repurpose them to help you get organized!  If you don’t have any extra furniture around your home, keep your eyes open for deals at garage sales and thrift stores.  And remember to think outside the box!

Have your repurposed any furniture in your home?  How did it help you get organized?
