31 Days of Organizing Tips: Day 15 (Bathrooms)

Welcome to Day Fifteen of the 31 Days of Organizing Tips series!  Throughout this series I’m sharing organizing tips to help you on your journey from overwhelmed to organized.

Today’s tips are to help you organize your bathrooms. Regardless of how many bathrooms you have and how large or small they are, organization is always important. We use a lot of personal items in our bathrooms so we need creative storage solutions to keep those items out of sight or stored neatly, while also keeping everything accessible.

If you feel overwhelmed in your bathroom because it is cluttered or disorganized, it can impact how you start your day. How many times have you been in a rush to get ready in the morning and can’t find what you’re looking for? It causes unnecessary stress and chaos if your bathroom isn’t organized. Plus, who wants to spend any extra time in the bathroom?!

But, it doesn’t have to be that way!  Small changes can make a huge difference in a bathroom.

Here are several tips to help you keep your bathroom from getting overwhelming. {Remember, you don’t have to do all of these.  Just pick one that will make the biggest difference for you right now.}

1.  Organize your bathroom drawers.  Use drawer organizers to group like items together so you can quickly find what you need.  This works for your master bathroom and kids’ bathroom.

2.  Use baskets or trays to group like items together such as towels, wash cloths, supplies, and toiletry items.

3.  Maximize the space under your sink. You can use sliding trays or pull-out racks or drawers to access the things at the back of the cupboard. Hang hooks on the back of the cupboard doors for small appliances or towels. Use plastic drawers or stacking bins under the sink to group small bathroom items. Store tall bottles of personal hygiene items in deep bins or caddies so they don’t fall over when you reach for one. You can do the same thing for cleaning supplies. Separate bins or baskets help you work around pipes too.

4.  Keep your counters as clear as possible by storing items in drawers or cabinets. This will help keep your bathroom from getting cluttered and feeling overwhelming. But for items you want to keep out for everyday use, maximize vertical space if possible. Tiered organizers can give you more vertical space while looking pretty. Here’s one you can make yourself.

Bathroom Organizing Ideas

When my kids were little I installed a toothbrush holder and toothpaste dispenser on our walls to keep toothbrushes and toothpastes off my bathroom counters.

For Day Fifteen, start with decluttering your bathroom. Every time I go through my bathroom drawers or cupboards I find things I’m no longer using. By eliminating clutter, you’ll already feel less overwhelmed. Then, choose one of these tips and put it into action right away. You can add more ideas over time. Each step will help your bathroom feel more organized which will help get your morning off to a good start.
